Our Mission
The mission of the Lindsborg Arts Council is to act as a coordinating educational and service organization to foster, promote, encourage and increase the knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts in Lindsborg and surrounding areas.
The Arts in Lindsborg
Located in the middle of Kansas wheat country, Lindsborg is a unique community settled by Swedish immigrants in 1869. These settlers included craftsmen, artists, and musicians for whom expressing their artistic culture within the community was a natural priority. The legacy of cultural expression of those early pioneers remains powerfully evident in Lindsborg today as the arts, in many forms, continue to be an integral part of the community culture. Throughout the year, the community is enriched by a variety of art galleries, studios, and museums, along with numerous musical performances. These range from chamber music and Broadway musicals to the nationally renowned Messiah Festival of the Arts.
Lindsborg is also internationally known for its biennial festival, Hyllningsfest. This two-day event serves to celebrate the town’s Swedish heritage through traditional music and dancing, foods, arts and crafts. The next festival will take place in October, 2025.
